Homemade Almond Milk Cold Brew with AeroPress Go Plus
A homemade batch of almond milk meets bold AeroPress coffee for a rich, creamy, dairy-free cold brew with notes of dark chocolate, almond and berry from Equator Coffee’s Mocha Java Blend.
Ingredients
For the fresh-brewed coffee (makes 2 servings):
30g of Equator Coffee’s Mocha Java Blend (pre-ground for AeroPress)
Soak: In a bowl or jar, soak 1 cup of almonds in cold or room temperature water. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours
Blend: After soaking, rinse and strain the almonds. Add them to a high-speed blender along with 3–4 cups of water, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 tablespoon of maple syrup, and a pinch of ground cinnamon (adjust to taste). Blend on high for 90 seconds
Strain: Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a bowl or pitcher, discarding the solids. For a smoother texture, strain again as needed
Transfer: Transfer your almond milk to a travel-friendly container (mason jars work great), and refrigerate until you're ready to top off your cold brew
Brew the Coffee
Insert a standard size paper filter into the filter cap.
Fill your tumbler with ice.
Place your AeroPress Go Plus chamber on top of your tumbler, making sure it’s centered on the tumbler for stability
Start your stopwatch and pour in 100ml of cold water, stirring vigorously. Quickly insert the plunger ½ inch into the top of the chamber, making sure the plunger is entirely passed the lip of the chamber (this creates a vacuum that stops your brew from continuing to drip through into your tumbler)
Let brew for 2-4 minutes, then slowly press down the plunger until you hear a hissing sound, signaling the end of your brew
Top with water and a splash of your homemade almond milk (to taste)
Put the lid on your tumbler and head out on your adventure!
Recipe Note
Equator Coffee’s Mocha Java Blend is a certified classic synonymous with fruit-forward flavors of dark chocolate, almonds, and berry-like fruit. This medium roast coffee is dark enough to stand up to milk, but not so dark as to hide the inherent flavor qualities of the blend’s component coffees.
