How to make Honey Lavender Syrup at home?
While you can absolutely use store-bought honey lavender syrup, you can also make your own home-made one. Here are a few easy steps to follow.
● 2 tablespoons of lavender,
● ½ cup honey
● ½ cup water
● Add the above ingredients in a small pot and stir over medium heat. Bring the syrup up to a simmer. Note no need to boil, a gentle simmer is perfect.
● Simmer the mixture for about 2 minutes
● Remove the syrup from the heat and let it steep for 10 to 25 minutes (depending on preference of lavender taste)
● Strain the mixture
● Let cool to room temperature before storing it or using it.
Place one filter paper in the AeroPress. Rinse with warm water. 3. Grind coffee to a medium/fine setting. Feel free to experiment with a grind size of your liking. NOTE: If using the Monarch pre-ground AeroPress coffee (from Onyx Coffee Lab), the coffee is already pre-ground for the perfect AeroPress medium-fine grind size
Add the ground coffee to the AeroPress chamber.
Add 100 grams of boiling water to the AeroPress (I used water at 210°F).
Stir back & forth aggressively. Set aside to brew/bloom for 45s.
Add another 100 grams of water (bringing it to a total of 200 grams).
Let sit until 2min.
While coffee is brewing, add 1-2 tablespoons of Honey Lavender Syrup to a glass. Note: Use pre-made syrup or see directions in the blog on how to make a home-made syrup.
Add ice (100 grams of ice) to the cup.
Slowly push down on the AeroPress to release the freshly brewed coffee into the carafe.
Pour brewed coffee to the glass.
Add 100 grams of milk. Feel free to use other milk options to your preference. You can also completely opt out of using milk.
Stir coffee and enjoy!
Recipe Note
This is a sweet and refreshing drink. Depending on your preference, feel free to use any milk of choice. You can also experiment with how much Honey Lavender syrup you’d like to add to your drink.
