This affogato recipe blends the bold richness of AeroPress espresso with the sweet texture of a homemade crumble topping. The creamy ice cream pairs beautifully with the espresso, while the cinnamon-spiced apple pecan crumble adds a deliciously textured twist. It's the perfect dessert for coffee lovers who want a bit of indulgence with a hint of seasonal warmth.
Ingredients
- 18g coffee, ground for espresso
- 100g water, 210°F (99°C)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into tbsp-sized pieces, at room temperature
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 1/8 tsp kosher salt
- 2 tbsp pecans
- 2 tbsp freeze dried applies
- 2 tbsp all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
Directions
Prepare AeroPress for brewing in the upright position. Ideally use the AeroPress Flow Control Filter Cap, if available.
Grind coffee to espresso fineness and add to AeroPress chamber.
- Add 100g of near-boiling water to AeroPress and stir back & forth aggressively. Set aside to brew for ~2 minutes.
- After ~2 minutes, slowly push down on the AeroPress over 30-45 seconds.
- Allow brewed AeroPress espresso to chill.
Make Crumble Topping: Add all crumble ingredients to a food processor and pulse blend until it comes together.
Assemble Affogato: Add 2 scoops of ice cream to a dish. Pour chilled AeroPress espresso on top. Top with 2 tbsp crumble topping. Enjoy!
Recipe Note
Crumble topping makes enough for ~3 affogatos. If you have extra, save in a container in the fridge.
