What happens when you mix strong, fudge-like AeroPress coffee with homemade horchata? You get something far more exciting than your average iced latte. This Batched Iced Dirty Horchata Latte blends the depth of Metric’s Colossus blend with the creamy, cinnamon-infused sweetness of traditional horchata for a drink that’s indulgent, refreshing, and effortlessly shareable.
With the AeroPress Clear XL, brewing two servings of bold, espresso-style coffee at once is fast and mess-free—making it the perfect partner for a chilled horchata base that you can prep ahead and keep in the fridge. The result? A rich, spiced iced coffee drink you can enjoy in seconds.
Easy to Batch, Hard to Share
The best part about this recipe is how easy it is to scale. The homemade horchata base makes up to nine servings, so once it’s prepped, all you need to do is brew, pour, and serve. The Colossus coffee brings big flavors—think brown sugar, cocoa, and a hint of smoke—that cut through the sweetness and spice for a well-rounded iced drink.
Whether you're pouring this for a group brunch or just stocking your fridge with better cold coffee at home, this dirty horchata delivers flavor and flexibility in one go.
Bold, Spiced, and Always Refreshing
With its creamy texture, warming spice, and deep coffee notes, this Batched Iced Dirty Horchata Latte is a perfect balance of cozy and cool. Keep a pitcher ready for hot afternoons, slow weekends, or whenever you want something that tastes as good as it looks.

Soak: In a bowl, combine rinsed rice, cinnamon sticks (broken into halves) and 4 cups water. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
Blend: After soaking, remove cinnamon sticks and blend until very smooth.
Strain: Pour mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a large pitcher. Discard solids.
Mix: Add 1 can evaporated milk, 1 can sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla bean paste to taste. Stir to combine. Chill until ready to serve.
Brew the Coffee
Insert an XL paper filter into the filter cap.
Place your AeroPress Clear XL chamber on top of your carafe, making sure it’s centered on the carafe for stability.
Add 36g (two heaping scoops) of Metric Colossus coffee (pre-ground for AeroPress) to the chamber.
Pour in 200ml of hot water (approximately 185°F / 85°C).
Stir the coffee gently for about 3 seconds to thoroughly wet the grinds.
Gently insert the plunger ½ inch into the top of the chamber, making sure the plunger is entirely past the lip of the chamber (this creates a vacuum that stops your brew from continuing to drip through into your carafe).
Let brew for 60 seconds, then slowly press down the plunger until you hear a hissing sound, signaling the end of your brew
Assemble the Iced Horchata Lattes
Fill two tall glasses with ice.
Divide the homemade horchata evenly between the two glasses (about ⅔ full).
Top each with half of the brewed AeroPress coffee.
Stir gently to combine.
Garnish with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon, if desired.
