This iced coffee recipe infuses the creamy, gooey richness of a real Cadbury Creme Egg into a bold, fruity, cold coffee for an indulgent and refreshing treat. Note: if you choose to use the suggested Geometry Coffee (from Onyx Coffee Lab) you will appreciate the pairing of sweet creamy chocolate egg with the light and fruity notes of this Ethiopian/Colombian coffee. Its notes of stone fruit, honey and tea combined together with the sweetness of the creamy chocolate egg, create a balanced, gently sweet and refreshing iced coffee.
How to incorporate a Cadbury Creme Egg into an Iced Coffee?
Here are a few steps on how to incorporate a Cadbury Creme Egg into iced coffee:
● 1 Cadbury Creme Egg
● 100-200g of Milk (your preference of choice of milk)
● In a small saucepan warm the milk with the chopped up Cadbury Egg chocolate pieces.
● Warm over low heat, and stir continuously until the chocolate melts. Make sure the filling inside the chocolate also blends into the milk.
● Optional: Add ½ tablespoon of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
This is a refreshing iced drink with a smooth, rich coffee base, balanced with the sweet creamy fondant of a Cadbury egg. The milk chocolate and vanilla flavor of the Cadbury egg make for a nostalgic, dessert-like coffee. This cold, refreshing, and yet decadent drink is perfect for Easter or any time you are looking for a fun treat!
Place one filter paper in the AeroPress. Rinse with warm water.
Grind coffee to a medium/fine setting. Feel free to experiment with a grind size of your liking. NOTE: If using Geometry coffee (from Onyx Coffee Lab) the coffee is already pre-ground for the perfect AeroPress setting.
Add 120 grams of boiling water to the AeroPress (I used water at 210°F).
Stir back & forth aggressively. Set aside to brew/bloom for 45s
Add another 380 grams of water (bringing it to a total of 500 grams), or fill the chamber to the 8 mark. Stir gently.
Let sit until 2min.
While coffee is brewing add ice into the carafe or into two separate glasses (if making for two servings, use 100g in each glass).
Slowly push down on the AeroPress to extract the freshly brewed coffee over the ice in the carafe.
Slowly add the melted Cadbury Egg milk mixture, while gently stirring as they combine.
Optional: Top it off with some chocolate shavings or crushed Cadbury Mini Egg pieces.
Optional: Drizzle some melted Cadbury Egg inside each glass before pouring the coffee/ice in. This also makes for a great aesthetic touch.
