This smooth, full-bodied XL AeroPress Americano uses our Variable Flow Control Cap to brew a rich, espresso-style concentrate that’s then finished with hot water for a classic cafe drink.
Directions
Place one XL size AeroPress paper micro-filter into the AeroPress XL Variable Flow Control Cap. Ensure that the Flow Control Cap tab is in the Closed position.
Twist the Flow Control Cap onto the AeroPress chamber lightly and place onto the carafe.
Place carafe, with AeroPress chamber positioned on top, onto a scale. Tare the scale to 0.
If you have a temperature control kettle, heat the water to 175°F (79°C). If not, bring your water to a boil, then let sit for 30 seconds before pouring.
Add ground coffee to the chamber. Shake slightly to level the bed of coffee.
Slowly pour 100g of water into the chamber.
Stir for 10 seconds.
Remove the AeroPress and carafe from the scale.
Move the Flow Control Cap tab to the Open position.
Insert the AeroPress plunger and press down slowly. The resulting concentrate will give you the espresso style coffee for your americano.
Return only the carafe with the espresso style coffee to the scale, tare it to 0, and pour 300g of water into the carafe.
