Starter Recipe

AeroPress XL Cold Brew Concentrate

Brew up a richly-flavored coffee concentrate using the AeroPress Variable Flow Control Cap - XL.

1. Prepare the AeroPress Clear XL: Place an AeroPress paper filter (wet the paper filter) or optional metal filter into the Variable Flow Control Cap (set to the Closed position). Twist the filter cap lightly onto the immersion chamber. Place the immersion chamber on top of your carafe, making sure it’s centered on the carafe for stability.

2. Add Coffee: Add 40g of medium-coarse coffee grounds into the chamber.

3. Pour Cold Water: Slowly pour 250 ml of cold, filtered water over the coffee grounds. Make sure all grounds are saturated evenly.

4. Stir Gently: Use the AeroPress stirrer to mix the coffee and water for about 10 seconds. This helps ensure even extraction.

5. Let it Brew: Let the coffee brew at room temperature for 10-12 hours or in the fridge for up to 24 hours. A longer brew time will extract more flavor and body.

6. Open the Cap: Move the tab to the Open position.

7. Press the Coffee: Insert the plunger, then slowly press down on the plunger over 30-45 seconds. The coffee concentrate will flow into your carafe. You can now store this coffee concentrate for up to a week in the fridge.

Not really a brewing tip but...

How To Clean

Day to day, a simple rinse while rotating the position of the tab is sufficient to clean the Variable Flow Control Cap. If you wish, you can separate all the components for a more thorough washing before snapping them back together. You can also clean the Variable Flow Control Cap in the top rack of your dishwasher. You can do so while it is still assembled, but we recommend disassembling it first.

Note: Please don’t use harsh chemicals such as bleach.
