The 2025 American AeroPress Championship circuit wrapped up in spectacular fashion, celebrating 20 years of AeroPress with unforgettable events, incredible coffee, and passionate competitors. This year marked the 20th anniversary of the world’s most iconic and beloved coffee maker, the AeroPress, and we celebrated with a nationwide tour featuring five events across Los Angeles, Austin, Seattle, New York City, and San Francisco.
Coffee lovers who had been wishing for a local festival got their wish—each stop on the tour brought together the very best of the coffee community, with local roasters brewing on AeroPress coffee makers, plus food, drinks, music, and front-row seats to some of the most exciting competition in the country.
From the high energy of Los Angeles and Austin to the creative flair of Seattle, New York City, and San Francisco, each event delivered its own unique flavor of community and world-class brewing—culminating in an unforgettable American AeroPress Championship Final in San Francisco.
Los Angeles AeroPress Championship Recap
The first stop on the tour was the Los Angeles AeroPress Championship, held on September 21st, 2025 at MICA Studios in the Arts District. The event was a huge success, drawing more than 350 coffee enthusiasts, roasters, and professionals.

The crowd came together to celebrate AeroPress’ 20th anniversary in true LA style—with coffee flowing from 11 local roasters, tunes from @minorfigures, serene teas from @spirittea, and smash burgers from @gamgam_burger keeping the energy high all day.

Coffee: Las Nubes, Jinotega, Nicaragua (Natural, Caturra, Catuai, Bourbon) roasted by @stereoscopecoffee
- Position: Upright
- Dose: 16g
- Filter: Double AeroPress Classic paper filters
- Grind: Comandante C60, 27 clicks
- Water: Lotus Water, 195°F (with mineral drops)
Method
- Add 16g coffee to chamber
- Bloom with 60g water, stir for 10 seconds
- Fill to 225g, add plunger to create vacuum
- At 1:00, plunge for 45s (finish at 1:45)
- Stop at grinds, bypass with 20g water (TDS 1.34)
- Serve—and win the championship
Austin AeroPress Championship Recap
The AeroPress Championships landed in Austin, Texas for the very first time on September 28th, 2025 at The Sunset Room. The city’s coffee community showed up in force to cheer on 18 competitors in a day filled with brews, beats, and bold flavors.
Roasters Village spotlighted incredible coffee from Black Fox Coffee Co., Fleet Coffee, Great Goods Coffee Co., and Texas Coffee Traders, while food vendors and local partners kept the vibe distinctly Austin.
Austin Champion & Winning Recipe
Congratulations to Michael Walker (@mpwalker), the first-ever Austin AeroPress Champion! Michael took the crown with a creative upright recipe using the AeroPress Flow Control Filter Cap.

- Dose: 18g

- Water: @thirdwavewater, 196°F
Method
- Pour 180g water
- Stir/paddle north–south–north, west–east–west
- Add to 230g total water
- Place saucer over chamber to retain heat
- Plunge firmly at 2:00 for 15s
- Decant, stir, and fan cup to sipping temp
- Serve—and secure the win

The 2025 American AeroPress Championship circuit came to an epic close on October 26th in San Francisco — the city that crowned this year’s national champion and sent them off to represent the U.S. on the world stage.
Hosted in the heart of the Bay Area, the final event brought together the four regional champions — Steve Cuevas (Los Angeles), Michael Walker (Austin), Jarin Mullenix (Seattle), and Jorge Amador (New York City) — for one last, high-energy showdown. Surrounded by cheering fans, top roasters, and a 20th anniversary celebration worthy of AeroPress’ legacy, the competition delivered exceptional brews, creative techniques, and plenty of suspense.
After three intense rounds of brewing, Jeff Rambo (@therealjefframbo) of @goldchildcoffee emerged victorious, earning the title of 2025 American AeroPress Champion. His refined inverted recipe impressed the judges with its balance, clarity, and sweetness — a honey-smooth cup that perfectly captured the versatility of AeroPress brewing.
Jeff will represent the United States at the World AeroPress Championship in Seoul, bringing his winning technique and signature calm precision to the global stage.

Position: Inverted
Dose: 15g
Filter: 2× @sibaristcoffee FAST filters (rinsed)
Grind: @comandantegrinder C40 MK4 — 24 clicks
Water: Lotus Water, 195°F / 90.5°C, ≈114 ppm TDS (balanced mineral composition emphasizing magnesium > calcium)
Method
- Pour 30g of brew water into an AeroPress carafe to serve as bypass water.
- Grind coffee and blow out any fines.
- Add 15g of coffee to the inverted AeroPress.
- Pour 50g of water and agitate thoroughly with a cupping spoon. Wait 30 seconds.
- Add 130g of water (total 180g in chamber).
- Attach cap with filters, then at 1:20–1:30, flip onto the server containing the 30g bypass water.
- Begin pressing just under the 1-minute mark to ensure stable brew temperature for judging.
- Transfer the brew between two AeroPress carafes several times, then pour into the judges’ vessel for final aeration.
- Win the championship — and a trip to Seoul.
With that, the 2025 American AeroPress Championship tour officially concluded — five cities, dozens of competitors, and countless cups of world-class coffee later. San Francisco marked not just the end of a competition, but a celebration of two decades of AeroPress innovation, creativity, and community.
