The chamber is made of double-wall borosilicate glass, anodized aluminum and solid clear-grade walnut. The plunger is made of a solid clear-grade walnut and LFGB-grade silicone (the seal). The filter cap is made of stainless steel, while the scoop and stirrer are made of solid clear-grade walnut.

The Premium chamber holds up to 10 oz. It is the same capacity as AeroPress Original, Clear, and Go Plus, but it is slightly taller and narrower.

It won't easily crack under sudden temperature changes and is more resistant to scratches than regular glass, making it ideal for everyday use. Yes. You can brew into glass mugs, including double-wall glass mugs (in fact, AeroPress Glass Mugs are specifically designed for use with AeroPress coffee makers!). When brewing with AeroPress Premium, take extra care when setting the brewer down on the mug, as it is heavy.

AeroPress uses air pressure and micro-filtration to brew coffee in as little as 30 seconds. Micro-filtration allows you to use a finer grind, which, combined with a fast brew time, produces a smooth cup with no grit and less bitterness, allowing coffee’s natural flavors to shine. French press takes significantly longer to brew and, without micro-filtration, requires a coarser grind, resulting in a bold cup that can have more bitterness.

For the best brewing experience, we recommend using a medium-fine grind size. You can get this three ways: 1) Use a grinder. 2) Buy preground medium-fine coffee from our website. 3) Take your beans to a local coffee shop to have them ground. Medium-fine is the best size for our 30-second signature brew, which produces the last amount of bitterness and the smoothest cup of coffee. If you don't have the ability to grind, you can buy preground coffee from the grocery store, which comes in medium grind, but it does require a brew time of 60 seconds and produces a slightly more bitter cup of coffee.

Some people brew with their AeroPress coffee maker upside down, which has been referred to as the “inverted method”. People who use the inverted method apparently do so to prevent premature drip-through of their coffee, to give them complete control over longer steep times, and to allow them to use coarser grind sizes. However, we strongly discourage using this method as it can cause the coffee maker to be less stable and prone to mishaps that expose the user to potential burns from hot liquid. For precision brewing, use an AeroPress Flow Control Filter Cap or Stainless Steel Flow Control Cap (compatible with AeroPress Original, Go, Clear, Premium, Steel, or Go Plus) or Variable Flow Control Cap XL(compatible with AeroPress Original XL and Clear XL). It allows you to eliminate drip-through, extend your brew time for as long as you want, and use whatever grind size you prefer! A small amount of drip-through is normal when brewing with AeroPress. To stop it, insert the plunger about ½ inch into the chamber after stirring, then pull up slightly to create a vacuum. For completely drip-free brewing and more control over your recipe, use an AeroPress Flow Control Cap [link to Accessories page]. It lets you extend brew time and use your preferred grind size. We strongly discourage using the “inverted method,” as it makes the brewer less stable and more prone to tipping, which can cause burns from hot liquid.

The minimum inside diameter of the lip of the mug must be 2.5 inches (64 mm) to comfortably fit the bottom of the AeroPress Premium inside the mug. The maximum inside diameter of the lip can be no larger than 4.25 in (108 mm) to provide a stable surface for safe brewing.

Once a month, apply a small amount of food-safe mineral oil to all wood surfaces. 2. Buff gently with a soft, dry cloth. 3. If the wood feels dry between monthly treatments, apply oil again as needed. Caution: Do not clean any parts in the dishwasher. Do not use soap or abrasive cleaners on wood parts. Minimize direct water contact - if needed, a slightly damp cloth is fine, but dry promptly.
