How much coffee does the AeroPress Original make?

The AeroPress Original can brew up to three shots of espresso style coffee. If you prefer to brew your coffee by pushing all the water through the grounds, you can brew one 10 oz. serving of coffee or cold brew.

What size filter do I use with the AeroPress Original?

You should use a Standard size filter with the AeroPress Original.

What kinds of coffee can the AeroPress Original make?

The AeroPress Original can make American style coffee, cold brew style coffee, or espresso style coffee for use in drinks like lattes and cappuccinos.

What are the maximum and minimum mug diameters the AeroPress Original fits?

The biggest mug you can press into with the AeroPress Original has a top inner diameter of 3 3/4 inches (95mm). The smallest mug you can press into with the AeroPress Original has a top inner diameter of 2 5/8 inches (67mm).

Can I clean the AeroPress Original in the dishwasher?

You can in the top shelf, but a simple rinse is sufficient because the plunger wipes the chamber. If your chamber ever gets sticky, wash it with vinegar. We recommend occasionally removing the seal from the end of the plunger for a good washing inside and out with warm water and dish soap.

What grind size should I use?

For the best brewing experience, use a medium-fine grind size, shake to level the bed of coffee grounds before pouring in the water, and pour the water slowly. Read More

How do I clean and store AeroPress coffee makers?

Storage and Care:

To maximize seal life, always eject the used coffee right after brewing and store your AeroPress coffee maker with the seal pushed all the way through the chamber. This keeps the seal free of compression for longer seal life. There is no adhesive on the seal, so you can easily remove it and then replace it on the AeroPress plunger. You can purchase replacement seals from our website here: https://aeropress.com/products/aeropress-seal.

Cleaning:

For day to day use, a simple rinse is sufficient because the plunger wipes the chamber clean as you brew. However, you can wash AeroPress coffee makers in the dishwasher (top rack only). We recommend occasionally removing the seal from the end of the plunger for a good washing inside and out with warm water and dish soap. If your chamber ever gets sticky, wash it with vinegar.

Safety

You should use a sturdy mug or carafe and should never press into a thin walled glass mug or carafe.

Inverted method:

The “inverted method” can cause the coffee maker to be less stable and prone to mishaps that expose the user to potential burns from hot liquid. Be advised that we strongly discourage using the inverted method because it is less stable and therefore prone to tipping over and exposing the user to hot liquid.

Where is AeroPress Original manufactured?

AeroPress Original is manufactured in the USA. AeroPress was founded by inventor Alan Adler, who created the very first prototype in his garage in Palo Alto, California. While a significant portion of our product line continues to be manufactured in the United States, some products are manufactured overseas driven by consideration of materials, assembly, cost and order quantity thresholds. All AeroPress products continue to be conceived and designed in the USA.

What is the difference between the AeroPress reusable metal filter and the AeroPress paper micro-filters?

The AeroPress Stainless Steel Filter allows oils to pass through for a somewhat fuller-bodied cup of coffee, whereas the paper micro-filter keeps out those oils for a smoother, grit-free flavor profile. Whichever filter you use, you're sure to make a delicious cup!

Is the metal used in the AeroPress Stainless Steel Filter food-safe?

Yes, the metal used in the AeroPress reusable metal filter is a food-safe, premium grade 316 stainless steel.

Which AeroPress coffee makers are compatible with the Standard size AeroPress Stainless Steel Filter?

The Standard size AeroPress Stainless Steel Filter works with AeroPress Original, Clear, Go, Premium, Steel and Go Plus (not compatible with AeroPress XL size coffee makers).

What is the difference between 316 and 304 stainless steel?

316 and 304 are two different grades of stainless steel. 316 is a premium grade of stainless steel that is much more durable and corrosion resistant than lower grade 304 stainless steel. The AeroPress reusable metal filter is made from 316 stainless steel, unlike other metal filters on the market.

Can I clean the AeroPress Stainless Steel Filter in the dishwasher?

Yes, the AeroPress Stainless Steel Filter is dishwasher safe (top rack only).

Does AeroPress manufacture any of the other metal filters on the market?

Yes, AeroPress also manufactures the AeroPress Gold Tone Super Fine Filter, a great option for fuller-bodied flavor with increased clarity. All other products on the market are made by third parties.

Is the AeroPress reusable metal filter compostable?

Because it is made of stainless steel, the AeroPress reusable metal filter is not compostable. However, it is infinitely reuseable, so you can make as many cups of coffee as you like with it. Just wash and reuse for cup after cup of rich, full-bodied coffee!

Where are AeroPress Stainless Steel Filters manufactured?
