Back when I was an early twenty-something hoodrat, I got fired from a local coffee shop because I “knew nothing about coffee,” which was totally correct. My whole life, I had been so hopped up on ’90s MTV jacka** energy, I never needed the stuff. Then I entered my professional career.

Act 2: I now need coffee. But I have no idea what good coffee is. I'm limited to whatever the office coffee robot decides to spurt out that day. After twelve years in the video game industry, I found myself unemployed with way too much time on my hands. That's when I fell down the rabbit hole.

These days, I'm spritzing beans before grinding, checking roast dates, and entering AeroPress competitions. The kind of things twenty-year-old me would’ve laughed at, or quietly judged before skating off into the sunset.

Now I make coffee for my family and friends. I make coffee videos for strangers - strangers who are quickly becoming friends. I've spent most of my adult life creating and designing soulless corporate art for marketing use. Making silly videos with music I actually like has become the creative outlet I always wanted. One that’s just for me.

And if anybody out there likes it, even better. I'm going to keep chasing the best damn cup of coffee I can muster. No matter how phallic my latte art always inevitably turns out or how often I scorch my tongue beyond repair, too eager to wait to sip what could be the best damn cup of coffee yet.

Why settle for just a grinder that fits in your pocket when you can have a grinder that fits in your brewer that fits in your pocket? The magnetic handle is not only the smartest thing I've seen in a hand grinder, but also oddly satisfying to play with. Try it and tell me I'm wrong. And the screw-on catch cup! The days of knocking my magnetized catch cup of mid-grind are in the rearview mirror—new grinder; new me.
