Carlos Escobar is a leading figure among the new generation of coffee professionals. After living and working for 12 years in Australia, he established himself on the international scene by winning the 2020 Australian Brewers Cup and placing fourth at the 2021 World Brewers Cup. In 2024, he returned to his home country to become Colombia's National Filter Coffee Champion, then led Colombia to the world podium in 2025 with a third-place finish at the World Brewers Cup.
He is the founder of DIFFERENTE COFFEE, a Colombian roastery dedicated to changing the perception of what origin-roasted coffee can be. From Colombia, he leads a movement that unites science, innovation, and sensorial sensitivity to create ultra-specialty coffees focused on competition, showing the world that the best coffee in the world can—and should—be roasted where it originates.
