Are you ready to take a caffeinated detour down the road less traveled, into the land of bold flavors and subtle sophistication? I present to you the AeroPress Long Black - a concoction that’s as daring as it is delightful, and as easy to make as it is to love.

Why an AeroPress Long Black?

In the world of coffee, the Long Black holds a special place. It's that dark, mysterious stranger at the party - captivating, intriguing, and full of depth. Now, imagine combining that allure with the AeroPress's convenience unmatched ability to extract rich, complex flavors from your favorite beans. The result? An incredibly easy and deliciously thick cup of coffee. It’s perfect for those moments when you crave something stronger than a regular cup but yearn for more nuance than an espresso can offer. It's coffee’s answer to a fine whiskey - best savored slowly, with each sip unfolding a new layer of taste.

What You'll Need:

An AeroPress: My go-to is the Clear, especially for the class of a long black.
Coffee: 18 grams of your finest beans, go bold!
Flow Control Filter Cap: Unlocks that espresso style body.
Grinder: Set to very fine, for that full flavor and mouthfeel.
Kettle: Temp control will put this over the top.
Scale: Optional but even a cheap kitchen scale will really up your consistency.
Mug: Preheat it for bonus points.
Water: 80 grams, hot and ready for a party.

Brewing Your AeroPress Long Black:

The Grind: Start with 18 grams of coffee, grinding it to a fine, almost powdery consistency. This will give you that rich and full bodied flavor.

Set the stage: Fill your mug with hot water - don’t worry, that clear steamy cup is gonna transform into caffeinated deliciousness in a sec!

Prep Your AeroPress: Assemble your AeroPress with the Flow Control Filter Cap and filter, then put your coffee in the press and put your AeroPress on your mug.

The Pour: Heat your water to about 200 degrees Fahrenheit - hot enough to extract but not so hot as to scorch our grounds. Pour 60 grams over your coffee grounds in the AeroPress.

The Wait: Stir and and steep for 45 seconds. I like to smell and take in the aroma.

The Press: After 45 seconds, slowly and steadily press down on your AeroPress. This is where your coffee comes to life, squeezing through the filter, carrying with it all the richness and complexity your beans have to offer. This press isn’t just a step in the process; it’s a rite of passage. Press through the hiss and you’ll be left with a crema-like finish on top.

The Finish: What you now have in your mug is a shot of coffee so intense, so full of flavor, it could stand alone as an espresso.
