The Assistant Controller will report directly to the Director of Finance and will manage the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This will include daily processing of both accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions directly into the ERP system. Our company is in a growth stage and is looking for someone to join our team that is both initiative-taking and a self-starter.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review and enter all vendor invoices received using third party website
- Enter retail, distributor, and DTC customer payments into ERP system, timely
- Update and reconcile bank activity daily
- Prepare reconciliation reports for all balance sheet accounts on monthly basis
- Manage fixed assets report to ensure accurate reporting
- Assist with the management of accounting, auditing and budgeting processes
- Reconcile accounting inaccuracies and imbalances
- Create commissions report monthly that will be used to pay all sales representatives
- Identify and implement internal control procedures throughout organization
- Coordinate with accounting consultant and tax accountant for quarterly and annual tax filings
- Ad hoc reporting, as needed

The company plans to extend brand reach beyond its’ current specialty coffee community. AeroPress’ office is currently based in Palo Alto, California. This position will work from home most of the time, with some light travel throughout the year.
Assistant Controller Qualifications/Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail oriented and highly organized
- Skilled in time management and ability to prioritize tasks
- Solid understanding of GAAP / accrual accounting
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Two plus years’ experience in public accounting firm
- Five plus years’ experience in accounting working in consumer goods industry dealing directly with retailers and distributors (Required)
- CPA preferred or actively pursuing license
- Must be able to work from home
- Preference for NY/NJ/Philadelphia metro areas, but can be remote, anywhere within continental USA.
